Prepare product photos for Walmart Marketplace

Walmart asks for a large image and a small file at the same time, which is the tightest combination of any major marketplace.

Large and small at once

Walmart’s own guidance recommends 2000 x 2000 for zoom while capping file size at 1MB. Most third-party articles quote a far more generous limit; the platform’s own documentation does not. PrepShot lowers quality a step at a time until the file fits and reports what it used.

Seamless white on the main image

The main image must be on seamless white. 255, 255, 255, with no props, watermarks, text overlays or borders.

Below the minimum gets unpublished

Primary images under Walmart’s minimum are unpublished automatically. PrepShot skips them and names them rather than upscaling to sneak past.

Swatches are their own size

Variant swatches are a separate, much smaller asset. PrepShot ships a preset for them that uses a sharpening resample, because a good 100-pixel image is a different problem from a good 2000-pixel one.

Requirements change, check the date

Marketplace image requirements move, and any article listing exact figures is accurate on the day it was written and decaying from then on. PrepShot’s presets each record the date a human last checked them against the platform’s own documentation, and link to the page they came from, so you can see how stale a value is instead of assuming.
